Passing any CPAT (Candidate Physical Abilities Test) event requires tremendous strength as well as stamina, but do you realize how many other elements are involved?

Standard strength or endurance training isn't enough. Speed, power, as well as cardiovascular endurance are also paramount. At the same time you need to develop agility, coordination, and most importantly, specific skill with the actual event.

So how do you structure a fitness plan that address so many variables? After developing thousands of programs for firefighers and candidates, I've discovered what works best -- what actually produces the best results in the field.

Every individual is different. A progressive program needs to be completely personalized to match the candidates strengths and weaknesses, as well as continue to improve performance on test events.
